My Darkest Film Yet

From the Fjords of Norway

My trip to Bergen (Norway) last year inspired a new style of travel film.

There was something incredibly eery about being on a seemingly narrow body of water, and finding out the true depth of the valley beneath the boat. Iā€™m ofcourse talking about the Fjords of Norway.

I was fascinated by the mischievous-looking trolls that were scattered in the nearby woods. I learnt that these trolls originated from Norwegian folklore, and that they were believed to roam the forests in the dark, hiding from sunlight that would turn them to stone.

Now, the local children supposedly play in the forests and try to find them all. But one glance at them made me feel unsettled.

It made me think: what if there actually was something haunting the woods? In the water, even?

I began to picture what that might look and feel like, and how that would translate into film. The result is my newest work, a short and haunting experience in Bergen, Norway:
