I thought I knew better.

A reminder, a moment of clarity, and a lesson.

I’ve been lucky to travel my fair share.

I’d like to think I know what to expect when traveling, how to plan it properly, factor in people I’m traveling with, how I’m going to capture it (if at all), and even what I’d like to get out of it.

But that last point is where I tripped up recently.

Last year, I visited Italy with a strict plan to see Naples and Positano. I paid no attention to the journey, just to the destinations, and that’s exactly what came back around to surprise me.

This trip was a brutal reminder that itineraries only take you so far. It was a trip that made me feel present and alive in the moment as I navigated uncertainty. It made me feel like I didn’t know travel like I thought I did. It was an experience to cherish, a moment of clarity and a lesson, all in one.

Plus, I took some banging 35mm film photos of the whole trip, which turned out great.

Through those very film photos, some reflections, and cinematic footage of the beautiful Amalfi coast, I’ve made this video which I’m proud to share with you.

Thanks for reading, and I’d love to hear what you think, so leave me a comment if you get the chance!
