Why This is My Dream Camera.
(It was made in 1998)
Hey guys,
Every now and again I get the inspiration to share with you something which expands my creative horizons.
This time, it’s about a camera that my wife gifted me on our wedding day, back in August ‘24.
After doing her own research and scouting some info from my family that this was in fact my dream 35mm film camera, she surprised me with it on the big day.
Then, I started using it.
Now, this camera is very well known in the world of photography. I’ll give you a brief summary - it’s the Fujifilm TX-1 (also known as the Hasselblad Xpan - same camera but two different versions as part of the collaboration). It has a champagne-coloured titanium build with a standout feature - it shoots in true panoramic format.
Obviously, I was going to share an introductory Youtube video of some sort to highlight that I now owned the camera, what the pictures looked like and my first impressions etc.
Instead, this introductory video ended up becoming something else entirely.
I began to notice a deeper realisation when using this camera, beyond the panoramic feature and all its novelties.
This camera forced me to re-learn how I view the world. For so long our pictures have been constrained to a rectangular format that limits the peripheries. We’ve been accustomed to shooting images differently to how we use our own sight.
But with this camera, this all changes.
If you’d like to see how, the video is up on YouTube now - It’s only 3 minutes, but I guarantee it’ll feel well spent - it’s already my no.1 fastest growing video on the channel! See you over there ✌️
Faisal 🙂
